ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell freshman gymnast
Sydney Beers earned the USAG national all-around title and finished the meet as a four-time All-American as the 2022 meet concluded with individual event finals on Sunday afternoon at Newman Arena.
Beers was already a national champion before she stepped on the mat on Sunday, capturing first in the all-around on Friday with a career high 39.125 to become the first Big Red all-eventer to capture a USAG title. In addition to her national title, Beers was also a first-team All-American on vault and floor and was a second teamer on beam. Beers was sixth on vault after scoring a 9.775 and took eighth on floor (9.775).
Additionally,
Kate Michelini captured first-team honors on bars and second team accolades on floor, while
Miranda Lund (first team) and
Victoria DeMeo (second team) were also honored on floor. Michelini earned a spot on bars finals with a 9.000, taking 13th, while Lund tied with Beers in eighth on floor with her 9.775.
