PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Cornell sailing team took ninth at Team Race National Championships, posting a 3-8 record in round robin competition. The Big Red failed to qualify for the top six, but its finish is the program's highest in school history.

Jana Laurendeau and Lillian Bjerke over the weekend's 11 races. Cornell earned wins over Michigan, South Florida and Georgetown, earning victories in three of its first seven contests before dropping its final four races of the weekend.
The Big Red earned a 1-2-3 sweep of the Wolverines and place 1-3-4 vs. South Florida and 1-2-5 against the Hoyas. The ninth-place finish bested its ranking of 10th in 2018.
The competition also crowned the inaugural Ivy League champion in sailing, with Yale taking the title after claiming the national title with a 13-3 record, one win ahead of Boston College and Stanford, who finished 12-4. Brown (11-5) and Dartmouth (9-7) rounded out the top five.
Cornell will sail for the America Trophy beginning on Saturday, April 30 at Kings Point.
