WORCESTER, Mass. -- All four Cornell men's lightweight crews reached the grand finals at the EARC Sprints on Sunday afternoon on Lake Quinsigamond. The varsity eight took fourth overall and was second among Ivy schools, with the fours claiming a sprints title.
The varsity eight finished behind only Yale among Ivy schools, with its time of 6:02.74 in the grand final topping both Princeton and Columbia. The Big Red was third in its heat on Sunday morning with a best mark of 6:01.13.
The lightweight four reached the top of the podium with a nearly 16-second victory over runner-up Columbia. The Big Red crossed the finish line in 7:12.69.
The third lightweight eight reached the grand final and took second in 6:09.12 after winning its heat in 6:13.38. The second eight was even faster in the grand final, taking third in 6:06.79.
The Big Red will row at the IRA National Championship beginnong on Friday, June 3 on Mercer Lake in Mercer, N.J.
