NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell men's track and field team claimed fourth place as a team at the 2022 Outdoor Heptagonal Championship at Yale's Dwyer Track. The Big Red won one event on Sunday and had eight top three finishes to conclude the two-day event.

Christian Martin blew away the field in the 110m hurdles, as his time of 13.77 was more than a quarter-second faster than the field and a personal best as the No. 4 all-time at Cornell.
• Martin was a strong second in the 400m hurdles, with his time of 52.73 just .15 out of the winner's circle.
• The 4x100 of
Kuune Mini,
Domenic Barresi,
Tomas Kersulis and
Angus Dove reached the podium in third after running a 40.71, just .01 out of second.
• Damien Hackett grabbed fifth in the 1,500 meters in 4:01.26.

Tomas Kersulis was the runner-up in both the 200 (21.09) and 400 (46.52) meters.

Rhys Hammond crossed the finish line in the 800 meters in 1:53.12, good for fifth.
• The 4x800 squad composed of
Marek Nowak,
Brady Shute,
Rhys Hammond and Damien Hackett crossed the line third in 7:34.13.
• The 4x400 relay scored in sixth in a time of 3:18.12 on the strength of runs by Martin, Fabien da Silva, Dove and Kersulis

Brad Morell's best toss of 16.87m (55-4 1/2) in the shot put was good for third and came on his sixth and final attempt of the competition.
• Morell also grabbed sixth in the discus (51.97m, 170-6 - No. 9 all-time at Cornell).
Qualifying athletes will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Round from May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
