ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's soccer team was tabbed to finish third in the 2022 Ivy League Men's Soccer preseason poll, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Princeton was named the preseason favorite, garnering 12 of the 16 possible first-place votes, finishing with 123 points. Right behind the Tigers was Yale, who received the remaining four first-place votes and had 103 points.

Cornell was third with 97 points, while Harvard (89 points), Penn (56), Brown (45), Dartmouth (39) and Columbia (27) rounded out the poll.

Emeka Eneli returns for his fifth year at Cornell following a 2021 campaign that saw him named to the All-Ivy League First Team as well as the United Soccer Coaches Men's Northeast Region team.

Defender Wilson Eisner returns for his sophomore campaign, after he joined Eneli and since-graduated forward Tyler Bagley on the All-Ivy League First Team last year. Eisner was the first Big Red player since Richard Stimpson in 1997 to earn All-Ivy League First Team honors as a freshman.

The Big Red opens the 2022 season on Sept. 2 against UC Santa Barbara, when the team plays the first of two Labor Day weekend games in the Golden State. Kickoff from Meredith Field at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, Calif., is slated for 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT).
