HAMILTON, N.Y. - The 10th-ranked Cornell women's hockey team took a tough loss against No. 5 Colgate at Class of 1965 Arena on Friday afternoon, 9-3.
Colgate jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Kassy Betinol and Kaitlyn O'Donohue (power play) netted the puck for the Raiders.
Izzy Daniel responded with a Cornell goal assisted from
Gillis Frechette and
Alyssa Regalado. Colgate added another goal at the 18:24 minute mark to give Colgate the 3-1 advantage heading into the second period.
The Raider goals continued as they put in two more from O'Donohue and Dara Greig.
Mckenna Van Gelder found the back of the net at the 18:14 minute mark on a goal assisted by Frechette and Daniel that followed a close shot save from Brynn Dulac. Betinol scored her second goal of the day for Colgate in the closing minute of the period.
Frechette registered a goal during the Big Red power play midway through the final period. The Raiders matched with a power play goal of their own from Sydney Bard, followed by a goal from Elyssa Biederman to seal the 9-3 victory.

The Big Red will return to Lynah Rink on Saturday, Jan. 21 for its second game of the weekend series against Colgate at 2 p.m. Game action will be broadcast to ESPN+.
