HITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell men's tennis team opened its spring portion of the 2023 schedule with a resounding 7-0 victory over Buffalo at the Reis Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Big Red (1-0) swept all three doubles matches, including a 6-2 victory by
Jack McCarthy and
Vladislav Melnic at No. 1 doubles. The tandems of
Radu Papoe and
Adit Sinha, as well as
Petar Teodorovic and
Samuel Paquette earned respective 6-4 and 7-5 victories.
Melnic dropped just two games in his straight-set victory, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, and Papoe was on the losing end of three games, 6-2, 6-1.
Teodorovic (No. 3), Sinha (No. 4), and
Aman Sharma (No. 5) all had straight-set victories for Cornell.
McCarthy prevailed in a three-set match with Buffalo's Greg Hastings, 6-4, 5-7, 10-7.
