LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's golf team rounded out the final round of the Columbia Autumn Invitational, finishing in seventh place.
Freshman Viktor Stollinger was the highest-finishing golfer for the red and white, rising nine spots on Sunday with a 1-under 70 to finish with a 216 over the 54-hole tournament to finish tied for ninth. It is the highest place that the first-year golfer for Budapest, Hungary, has finished this fall.
Tyler Debusschere was not too far behind Stollinger, as the freshman also turned in a 1-under 70 on Sunday, rising from 26th to finish in a tie for 12th. It is the second time that Debusschere has finished inside the top 15 this fall, as he put together a 12th-place finish in the Cornell Invitational on Sept. 10-11.
Juniors Jackson Debusschere and Tyler Zimmer tied for 19th after carding a 220 over the two-day tournament. Debusschere had a great Sunday, shaving four strokes off his 74 during the second round on Saturday with an even-par 71, while Zimmer carded a 4-over 75 on Sunday. Four golfers inside the top 20 is the best finish for the red and white since its Cornell Invitational, where three Big Red athletes (Jackson Debusschere, Tyler Debusschere, and Matt Simon) finished ninth, 15th, and 19th.
Char Russekoff (70-78-78-226), Weston Warden (74-76-79-229), and Tismark Boham (79-79-77-235) rounded out the competing golfers for the Big Red on the weekend.
Columbia was the team champion on the weekend, finishing at three-under, nine strokes ahead of second-place Dartmouth. Colgate (+15), Bryant (+20), and Sacred Heart (+21) rounded out the top five.
Sacred Heart's Marcus Lim was the medalist for the tournament after putting together an impressive 8-under 205, including a tournament-low 63 in the opening round on Saturday.
