ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 10-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team earned a 5-2Â victory on the second side of a back-to-back against No. 13-ranked Penn State, completing the weekend sweep.
Izzy Daniel registered three helpers in the contest, going to
Mckenna Van Gelder on a power play,
Lily Delianedis, and
Georgia Schiff.
Claudia Yu and Daniel also registered Big Red goals.
Two first period goals from both sides came on the power play, with the first being from Van Gelder (7:10) and the second coming from Lyndie Lobdell (18:33) of Penn State. Out of the four opening period penalties that were called, three were of major fashion.
Three minutes into the second period Delianedis put the Big Red back in front with a tally from Daniel. Penn State would would respond, knotting the game up when Leah Stecker found Katelyn Roberts for a Nittany Lion score. Later in the period
Claudia Yu put the Big Red back out in front, 3-2, with a strike, assisted by
Avi Adam and
Ashley Messier.Â
Cornell would put the game out of reach in the final period netting two goals (Schiff, Daniel) to put the game on ice. In her second start, freshman goalie
Annelies Bergmann registered 18 saves with a .900 save percentage.

The Cornell women's ice hockey team will host Syracuse on Tuesday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Lynah Rink. Game action will be broadcast to ESPN+.
