ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior forward Gabriel Seger and junior goaltender Ian Shane have both been recognized by ECAC Hockey for their performances in the Big Red's sweep of No. 11-ranked Minnesota Duluth last weekend in front of a pair of over-capacity crowds at Lynah Rink.

Seger was named the conference's Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird by Lark Hotels, after posting a three-point weekend for Cornell.

In the season opener, Seger assisted on sophomore forward Dalton Bancroft's first-period power-play goal, which gave the Big Red the lead for good in its 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Friday night. The following night, the senior from Uppsala, Sweden, posted his first career multi-goal game by netting the latter two Cornell goals in its 3-0 triumph.

Shane earned ECAC Hockey's MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors following his 35-save weekend. Along with his save output, Shane posted a 0.50 goals-against average and a .972 save percentage to go along with his 2-0-0 record on the weekend.

On Saturday night, Shane also became the 21st player in Cornell's modern era, since the 1957-58 season, to accumulate 1,000 career saves with the Big Red.

Over Shane's last 10 appearances between the pipes, dating back to last season, he has a 7-3-0 record with a 0.80 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage. During the span, Shane has given up one goal or less on nine occasions.

No. 12-ranked Cornell will return to action this weekend when it travels to New Haven, Conn., and Providence, R.I., to face ECAC Hockey and Ivy League rivals Yale and Brown, respectively. Both contests are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+ and over the airwaves on WHCU (870 AM, 97.7 FM, whcuradio.com).
