Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Daniel Extends Point-Streak To 12, Bobcats Hand Big Red First Loss of The Season

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team dropped an ECAC Hockey contest against the no. 9-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats at Lynah Rink on Friday night. Cornell suffered the first loss of the season, dropping to 10-1-1, while the Bobcats improved to 12-2-0.

Izzy Daniel extended her point-streak dealing a helper to Kaitlin Jockims who scored the lone Big Red goal of the contest.

The game featured a marquee matchup between the pipes, as freshman netminder Annelies Bergmann was faced against graduate goalie Logan Angers. Both six-footers were tested early and often in the opening period, but stood tall making eight saves apiece.

Five minutes into the second period the Bobcats opened the game's scoring when Kahlen Lamarche corraled a loose puck and skated down the ice for an unassisted tally. 10 minutes later Emerson Jarvis added to the Quinnipiac lead.

The Big Red upped the pressure in the final as desperation time neared. Sophomore blue-liner Grace Dwyer committed a holding-infraction with 12 minutes to go in the contest. Cornell would get three shots off during the Bobcat power-play, with the latter finding the back of the net by Jockims moving the score to 2-1.

Moments later, Cornell found themselves on the advantage when Maddy Samoskevich was called for a tripping. Chances to tie the game arose during the power-play, but Cornell failed to cash in on the opportunity. The Big Red would go to a 6 on 4 advantage that Quinnipiac would hold off on as well, putting in an empty-net insurance marker.

Bergmann earned 16 saves, but took the first loss of her career, shifting to 7-1-1. Angers registered 26 saves for the Bobcats.
