Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

#13 Princeton Downs #6 Big Red, 4-3

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team fell by a score of 4-3 to the Princeton Tigers on Saturday evening at Lynah Rink. The Big Red fell to 10-2-1 after the setback, while the Tigers improved themselves to 7-4-1.

Kaitlin Jockims, Lily Delianedis, and Karel Prefontaine scored Big Red goals on the night. Mckenna Van Gelder, Prefontaine, Izzy Daniel (two), Katie Chan, and Rory Guilday provided helpers. Daniel extended her point-streak to 13.

Cornell got off to a quick start lighting the lamp one minute into the game on a Kaitlin Jockims tally. Princeton responded by netting two consecutive goals coming from Annie Kuehl and Sarah Fillier to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Delianedis found the back of the net for Cornell late in the first to knot the game up at 2-2 heading into the second frame.

The Big Red closed the first period with a penalty, and while on the penalty-kill committed another infraction giving the Tigers a 5 on 3 advantage at the beginning of the second that they would score on to retake the lead. The remainder of the period would stay scoreless.

Much like the opening period, first-year forward Prefontaine struck two minutes into the final period tying the game at three apiece. With under six minutes to go, Princeton's Sarah Paul put in what would serve as the game-winning-goal for the Tigers.

Annelies Bergmann registered 14 saves on the night. She dropped her second game between the pipes, moving to 7-2-1.
