WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team cruised to a 4-1 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies at Medstar Capitals Iceplex on Friday night. The Big Red improved to 11-2-1, while the Tommies dropped to 5-11-0 on the year.
Piper Grober scored the first Big Red goal of her career, accompanied by 
Katie Chan, 
Avi Adam, and 
Izzy Daniel (extended point-streak to 14) who netted the puck as well. Daniel, Grober, 
Kaitlin Jockims, 
Grace Dwyer, 
Mckenna Van Gelder (two), and 
Lily Delianedis (two) earned helpers on the night.
The Cornellians were off to the races, getting a grade A opportunity shortly after the opening face off that was saved by Tommie netminder Calla Frank.
Midway through the frame Delianedis and Daniel found Chan for the opening tally of the game. Moments later, Grober netted the puck from deep, scoring the first goal of her Cornell career to extend the lead to 2-0.
11 minutes into the second stanza Adam stretched the lead to three on a goal that was assisted by Grober (second point) and Dwyer.
NCAA women's ice hockey points per game leader Daniel added her second point of the night on a third period power-play goal that would serve as the Big Red insurance marker. The Tommies put in their lone goal of the night on an impressive tip-in from Maddie Brown late in the final period.
Deanna Fraser took the shift between the pipes for Cornell, notching 13 saves and keeping her record unscathed.
