ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's basketball lost, 76-48, to Brown on Saturday, February 11. The Bears shot 50% from the field and were equally as successful from behind the arc. Cornell falls to 9-14 on the season, 2-8 in conference play. The Bears improve to 10-12, 3-7 in the Ivy.
The Big Red posted two double-digit performances in the contest. Freshman
Emily Pape scored 12 for her eighth double-digit outing in the past nine games. Senior captain
Shannon Mulroy also added 13 for her seventh game with double-digit scoring this season.
Anna Hovis added eight points, and
Ruby Grace Williams had six.
Brown had four double-digit scorers, including 20-point performances by Isabella Mauricio (22) and Kyla Jones (20).
Brown shot 53.8% from the field in the first quarter while holding Cornell to 11.1%, powering the Bears to a 19-6 lead with 10 minutes in the books. The Bears continued to build their lead out to 20 at 35-15 with 4:22 to go in the second, but the Big Red chipped away at the lead with a 12-2 run that saw eight points by Mulroy and Pape to trail 37-27 heading into halftime.
The Big Red had one of its strongest third quarters of the year. Cornell battled back to trail by two with 3:16 remaining in the third. Cornell never retook the lead but trailed by just four at the end of the third quarter, 49-45, outscoring the Bears 18-12. Brown closed the fourth quarter with all the momentum, outscoring the Big Red, 27-3, and sealing the win.

Cornell looks to bounce back next weekend on the road after a three-game slide. The Big Red will travel to Dartmouth and Harvard, first tipping off in Hanover, N.H. at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 17.
