Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Big Red Forces Game Three Behind Fraser's 42 Saves

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Big Red women's ice hockey faced off against Clarkson in game two of the series, as it looked to avenge the game one loss from Friday night. The goaltenders on both ends of the ice played outstanding in this 85-minute double overtime contest, with Cornell reigning victorious, 2-1.

The goalies put on a clinic in the opening period, with Deanna Fraser (Cornell) and Michelle Pasiechnyk (Clarkson) notching 12 saves a piece. Neither team were able to get on the board sending us into the second period scoreless.

Stephanie Markowski opened up the second period with a Clarkson goal on the tail-end of a Golden Knight power-play. Cornell responded as Katilin Jockims started a Big Red rush where she ultimately netted the puck on a rebound shot to tie the game 1-1.

The third period was another battle of the goalies as neither team found the back of the net sending the game to overtime.

The squads needed not one, but two extra periods to figure out a winner of game two. Georgia Schiff saw an opportunity on a rebound shot where she put a stick to the puck that ended up deep in the Golden Knights net to give the Big Red a 2-1 victory in Potsdam. Deanna Fraser finished the contest with a season-high 42 saves, which also matches the best of her career.
