POTSDAM, N.Y. - Women's ice hockey fall to the No.9-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights 2-1 in an ECAC Hockey showdown at Cheel Arena on Friday night. Senior forward
Gillis Frechette registered the lone Big Red goal of the contest.
Both teams got off to a strong defensive start, going shot-for-shot with neither team finding the back of the net.
The Golden Knights would notch two goals in the second period by Anne Cherkowski and Brooke McQuigge to go up 2-0 heading into the final period of play.Â
The Big Red cut the lead to a manageable deficit midway throught the third period when Frechette netted the puck (assisted by Kenyon Paige and
Lily Delianedis), to bring the score to 2-1. Cornell had it's fair share of shots in the final nine minutes but it was not enough as Clarkson escaped with the victory.
Next Action
The Big Red will be back in action tomorrow night at Appleton Arena to take on the St. Lawrence Saints. Game action will be broadcast to ESPN+.
