DES MOINES, Iowa — The Cornell men's tennis team continued its season-opening win streak on Sunday by defeating Drake, 4-3, at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Cornell now has a 5-0 record to open the year, marking the second consecutive season in which the Big Red has won its first five matches. Last year, the Big Red opened the spring campaign with eight straight wins.
Drake claimed the first point of Sunday's match, posting 6-3 and 6-1 respective victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.

Sophomore
Radu Papoe recorded his second victory over a ranked opponent in as many days, giving the Big Red its first point of the day, with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over No. 34-ranked Jeremy Schifris.
Reid Jarvis defeated sophomore
Nathan Mao in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, giving the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead.

Vladislav Melnic each registered three-set victories to aid the Big Red to its come-from-behind victory.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will return home for a match against South Florida on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Reis Tennis Center in a final tune-up before the ECAC Indoor Championships, which will be held on Feb. 17-19 in Hanover, N.H.
