ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell gymnastics team has captured Gymnastics East Conference honors each of the past two weeks. Mikayla Burton was named GEC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 1, with Sydney Beers capturing Gymnast of the Week accolades on Feb. 8.

Burton was honored after her personal best performance at home vs. LIU, hitting a beautiful front aerial - side aerial flight series on beam en route to scoring  a 9.775. Her performance helped the Big Red score a season high 48.775 on beam. 

Beers had a personal-best 9.900 on floor, tied for the fifth-highest mark in school history, to go along with a season-high 9.825 on vault against GEC foe Penn. She placed first on floor, second on vault and seventh on both bars (9.500) and beam (9.775).

The Big Red will continue its home stand when it hosts the Cornell Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. at Newman Arena. Cornell will welcome Ithaca College, Brockport and SUNY Cortland to the quad meet that will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
