WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The Cornell gymnastics team competed in its final tuneup for next weekend's GEC Championship with a dual meet at West Chester, dropping a 193.875-191.875 decision at the Sturzebecker Health Science Center. Sydney Beers claimed the vault title and was the all-around champion on Friday evening.

Beers scored a 9.725 on vault to claim first, with her 38.800 all-around score holding off teammate Kate Michelini (38.600). Beers was second on floor (9.800). The duo also finished in the top four on beam, with Michelini third (9.750) and Beers fourth (9.725). She was far from the only top finisher on the day for the road school.

On vault, where the Big Red's 48.250 topped West Chester, Amy Krueger (9.700) claimed third and Cami Whitaker (9.675) was fourth. Michelini was the team's top scorer on bars (9.600) and the second-highest scorer on floor (9.725).

The Big Red will head to next weekend's GEC Championships at William & Mary. Cornell will compete at either noon or 6 p.m. at Keplan Arena in Williamsburg, Va.
