CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Junior
Asherah Horsley qualified for the NCAA Championships with her fifth-place effort in foil to led six top 20 finishers at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Sunday at Harvard's Gordon Indoor Track. Horsley will be making her second straight appearance at nationals.
Horsley took fifth among 50 foil competitors, with the top eight earning automatic qualification to nationals. She was 4-2 in her first pool, then improved to 5-1 in the second round before going 6-5 in the final round robin, with her record and a +11 touch differential allowing her to grab fifth overall. Madeleine Nishimura, who was 11th. Rei Hosono (19th) and
Renata Chusid (22nd) also competed in the weapon.
In epee,
Clarice Lim was the top finisher in 15th, with
Emily Gao (21st),
Emma Ni (23rd) and
Mallika Ketkar (50th) finishing among 53 qualifiers.
With the top nine qualifying in sabre,
Stella Berman grabbed 11th with
Erika Chin (20th) finishing in the top 20.
Amit Hanadari-Levy (29th) and
Sarah Lacson (33rd) also represented the Big Red in the single-day event.
