Men's Polo Extends Win Streak to Six

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell men's polo extends it's win streak to six with a 15-13 victory over Toronto Polo Club. It was Pablo Herrera with the hot stick, accounting for six goals in the outing.

"We scheduled this game in order to gear up for Nationals at UVA in three weeks," said Anthony Condo, Jr., the Peter B. Orthwein '68 Head Coach of Polo. "We knew this squad would push us and prepare us to compete at the highest level."

Toronto was led by star Brennan Wells, who net eight goals. Senter Johnson, a name long-time Big Red fans might recognize, added two goals for Toronto. Johnson is a Cornell polo alumni who was an intergral part of the 2005 national championship team.

The first chukker opened with a goal by Wells, but Herrera had the answer. Taylor Palacios made the lead 2-1 before Wells scored a second goal. Benito Jaramillo and Pablo Herrera combined for a 2-0 run to close the first chukker with a 4-2 lead. The Big Red continued the momentum in the second chukker with a made penalty shot and a live-game goal from beyond the 25-yard line. Toronto closed the half with two more goals, but Cornell maintained a 7-4 lead. Toronto outscored the Big Red 5-3 in the third chukker, but alternate Nick Paciorek got in on the scoring action. Cornell closed back on top with a 5-3 fourth chukker, where second alternate Patricio Fraga-Errecart added a goal.
