Clas, Jackson Eclipse Freshman Mile Record Twice at ECAC Championships

BOSTON, MA - Women's track and field took the course for a weekend of ECAC Championship events in Boston, MA. Cornell finished the weekend ranked 28th among 43 teams. Mairead Clas, Katja Jackson, and Clara Harmon earned honors for their efforts this weekend at the championships. 

Harman ran 1000-meters in 2.47.66, which is a personal best moving her up to eighth all-time in Cornell history. Her time was good for fifth place, finishing ahead of two of her Ivy-League counterparts. Reyne Rodrigues finished ninth with her 56.15-second sprinting efforts in the 400-meter dash finals. Rodrigues set her 400-meter personal record during the preliminary round on Saturday (55.98 seconds).

Clas (4:50.62) and Jackson (4:50.78) eclipsed the freshmen record in the mile for the second time this weekend, coming in sixth and seventh place respectively. Meliee Kry represented the Big Red during two field events, coming in 12th place in the long jump (5.27 meters) followed by a 27th place tally in the triple jump (10.71 meters). Cassidy Cheesman also competed in the triple jump, finishing 15th overall with her 11.27 meter mark.

A Look Ahead
The Big Red will shift it's focus to the outdoor campaign which is set to begin on March 18th at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic and Penn Challenge.
