ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell senior forward
Matt Stienburg has signed a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles, the organization announced Friday night.
Stienburg will be joining the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, who selected him in the third-round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
This past season, Stienburg had seven points (two goals, five assists) in 18 games for the Big Red this season, as he was sidelined for 16 games due to injury.
During his tenure on East Hill, Stienburg played in 73 games for the Big Red and logged 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists). His 29-point season in 2021-22 led all Cornell players that year.
The signing with the Eagles marks the second time in three days that a Cornell player has signed with the organization, as senior defenseman
Sam Malinski inked a two-year deal on Thursday.
