ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell and Princeton took the diamond at Niemand-Robison Field on Sunday for game-three, looking to break the tie as both teams traded 10-9 victories in day one of the series. The Big Red and the Tigers battled hard to the very end, as Princeton would ultimately secure at tight victory, 5-3.
The Big Red grabbed an early lead, after
Maicie Levitt singled and was awarded an extra base on a throwing error by the Tigers.
Emma Antich followed her with a long single that ushered Levitt around the bases for the opening run of the contest. Princeton rattled off three runs in the third inning to put themselves back on top, 3-1. During the fifth and the sixth innings, each team would put up one run a piece putting the score at 5-3, with the Big Red runs coming in home run fashion by
Celia Macari and
Lauren Holt (Ivy-League homer leader), respectively. That count would hold on, giving Princeton a victory in the series tie-breaker.

The Big Red will travel across town on Thursday to take on next door neighbor Ithaca College in a doubleheader.
