ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 40-ranked Cornell men's tennis team defeated Brown, 4-2, at the Reis Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Cornell improved to 16-5 overall and 3-2 in Ivy League play. Brown is now 13-14 on the year and is 0-5 in Ancient Eight play.
Brown's Noah Hernandez and Chun Lam claimed the victory at the top doubles match, 6-4, over sophomores
Nathan Mao and
Adit Sinha. Junior
Samuel Paquette and freshman
Petar Teodorovic posted a 6-3 win at the No. 3 doubles match. At No. 2 doubles, the match between Brown's Niraj Komatineni and Matthew Mu against Cornell senior
Vladislav Melnic and sophomore
Jack McCarthy went unfinished leading to no doubles point being distributed.
Cornell posted four victories in the six singles matches, highlighted by straight-set victories by Teodorovic (No. 2), Sinha (No. 3), Paquette (No. 5), and sophomore
Aman Sharma (No. 6).
Mao ended up retiring after the first point of the third set, leading to a victory for Mu. Melnic fell to Komatineni, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (3) in the top singles match.
Looking Ahead
Sunday will be Cornell's final home match of the 2023 regular season when it hosts Yale at the Reis Tennis Center. Doubles action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
