ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell took the diamond with the University of Pennsylvania for a doubleheader on Friday morning. The Big Red shut down a Quaker rally attempt in the first game, edging out a 4-3 win. The Cornelians would repeat a winning effort in the second game, taking out Penn 4-1.
Game One
Emma Antich picked up where she left off on Wednesday, smashing a two-run homer in the first-inning to get Cornell out to an early 2-0 lead.
Kate Callaway's fielder's choice was enough to usher
Julie Hilcken to the home-plate to extend the Big Red's lead in the second-inning.
Penn came storming back, rattling off three unanswered runs to tie the game up going into the bottom of the sixth.
Sydney Stapf activated her clutch gene, smashing a home run that would prove to be the game-winning play.
Gabrielle Maday was credited with the victory on the mound. She pitched the entirety of the contest and allowed just two earned runs.
Game Two
The second- and fifth-innings were the difference makers in the back-half of the doubleheader, as Cornell would score two runs in each stanza.
Kate Callaway was efficient at the plate, coming away with three hits (one RBI) on four at-bats. Big Red runs were registered by

Lauren Holt, Callaway, and
Emma Antich.
Mia Burd was the victor from the mound, pitching a full game and allowing just a single run.
