Sydney Beers earned USAG Collegiate All-America first team honors and collected top 10 individual finishes on both vault and floor as the Cornell gymnastics team wrapped up the 2023 season on Saturday afternoon at Kitty Magee Arena at Texas Women's University. Beers ended her season fifth on floor and seventh on vault at the national event.
Beers opened the afternoon with a 9.725 vault, good for seventh in the nationally-competitive field. Three judges scored her attempt a 9.700, with a fourth granting her a 9.800. After being recognized for her fifth-place all-around effort in Thursday's semifinals, she capped the weekend with an impressive 9.838 on floor, good for fifth overall. Three judges rated her at 9.85 for her performance, with a fourth scoring it a 9.80.
Beers, now a seven-time USAG All-American, including six times on the first team and the 2022 all-around champion, was one of nine Big Red competitors that competed at the USAG Collegiate nationals. In all, 11 gymnasts earned invites to nationals.
