ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors
Yianni Diakomihalis and
Sivasangari Subramaniam took home the Charles H. Moore Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete Award on Monday evening during the school's Senior Athlete Award Receptions.
Demetrius Harris and
Darby Kent earned the Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to student-athletes whose leadership on and off the field model the ideals of the Big Red athletics department.
Max Kreutzelman and
Emily St. John were recognized with the Mario St. George Boiardi '04 Leadership Award for embodying leadership, athleticism and a strong work ethic.

Yianni Diakomihalis, Wrestling
- Four-time NCAA champion (fifth in the history of the sport)
- Four-time EIWA and Ivy League Wrestler of the Year
- Four-time EIWA champion
- 2022 world team silver medalist
- All-time Cornell leader in winning percentage (.983, 115-2)
Sivasangari Subramaniam, Women's Squash
- 2022 CSA national champion
- Three-time national finalist
- Three-time first-team All-American and All-Ivy selection
- 50-2 career record
- 2023 CSA Scholar Athlete Award
Demetrius Harris, Football
- Honorable mention All-Ivy League in 2022
- Elected team captain after earning the trust and respect of his teammates due to his hard work and spirit.
- Back-to-back Special Teams Player of the Year as a non-specialist, something rare in college football and unprecedented at Cornell.
- Classic story of improvement, from scout team performer to special teams ace to backup corner to the "quarterback of the defense at safety.
- Thrived in the Ivy League thanks to his character and talent, overcoming injury and personal hardship, as well as making a position change for the team
- Graduated in December with a degree in Applied Economics & Management.
- Earned a scholarship to play at the University at Buffalo as a graduate student
Darby Kent, Gymnastics
- Two-year team captain despite rarely competing due to injury since early in her freshman season
- President of SAAC after serving as community service chair
- Member of the Student Mental Health collective and student-athlete mental health committee
- Integral in starting a new program, FF4A (Financial Freedom for Athletes) to teach other athletes financial literacy through a series of seminars.
- Bridged her work in financial literacy and mental health by doing research on NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) and how it impacts student-athletes well-being and mental health.
- Member of Sphinx Head Honor Society and has served as their tapping chair, as well as a member of their Justice League and as Historian for the Society.
- Served as a Campus Tour guide for many Big Red recruits, volunteered for freshmen move-in, has been an orientation leader, an ACE Program Volunteer and a part of Cornell's Basic Needs Coalition
Max Kreutzelman, Heavyweight Rowing
- Four-year member of the varsity team
- Member of the U23 USA National Team
- Four-time IRCA All-Academic
- Two-year captain
- Stroke man of the 4+, leading it to a silver medal at the Head of the Charles and member of the varsity boat that placed ninth in the country.
- Member of Red Key and Quill & Dagger honor societies
- Helped lead the team through the difficult experience of losing our deeply loved captain Jack Robinson, assuming the leadership of the team following one of the most gifted leaders we have ever had, and he had to do it just as he was entering the competition season. He did this despite Jack having been one of his closest friends
Emily St. John, Women's Soccer
- Elected part of our program's first ever leadership team in 2022
- Co-President of the Red Key Honor Society
- Part of the founding group and active board member of WOCA
- Represented the Big Red as a part of the Ivy Women's Soccer Justice Coalition
- 2023 Academic All-Ivy League
- Saw action in all 47 career matches
- 4.0 student headed to med school
