Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

#8 Big Red Falls 3-0 To Defending ECAC Hockey Champion #5 Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The no. 8-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team falls 3-0 to the no. 5-ranked Colgate Raiders on Saturday night at Class of 1965 Arena. The Big Red fall to 13-5-1 on the season, while the Raiders improved to 20-3-1.

Cornell began the game with two grade-A opportunities in a span of 30 seconds but could not find the back of the net. Later in the period, the Big Red saw themselves on a power-play for a Colgate tripping-infraction but failed to make it count.

The Big Red would lose the puck which was corralled by Kristýna Kaltounková who put it in the back of the net on a one versus one breakaway. That tally would spearhead a three-goal burst by the Raiders giving them a 3-0 advantage heading into the second.

Annelies Bergmann took over duties in the net for Deanna Fraser at the start of the second period. Both teams would trade two power-play opportunies each to no avail. Bergmann collected 13 saves in the period, including a key grade-A wrap around opportunity during the Cornell penalty-kill.

The Big Red saw its opportunities fall short in the third period, as Colgate earned the second of two victories on the weekend.

Fraser began the game in goal for Cornell, collecting eight saves during the first period. Bergmann entered the game at the start of the second and stop every Raider shot attempt that she faced, ending with 25 saves.
