ITHACA, N.Y. - The Premier Women's Hockey League kicked off its inaugural season this year and is set to featureĀ Cornell alum. Briane Jenner (Ottawa), Kristin O'Neill (Montreal), Jillian Saulnier (New York), Micah Zandee-Hart (New York), Jaime Bourbannais (New York), Marlene Boissonnault (Montreal), and Lauriane RougeauĀ (Toronto) have earned their way onto active rosters as it currently stands. Jenner and Zandee-Hart were named captains of Ottawa and New York, respectively.

Draft picks:
Kristin O'Neill - Round 2 Pick 7 (Montreal)
Jaime Bourbonnais - Round 2 Pick 9 (New York)
Jill Saulnier - Round 7 Pick 40 (New York)

The Catch Up
The Inaugural PWHL season got off to the races on New Years day, with a match up between New York and Toronto which featured four Cornellians. Saulnier got on the board scoring her first career goal in the third period to push the score to 3-0 in favor of New York. BourbonnaisĀ registered her first point on a helper to teammate Kayla Vespa to help seal a 4-0 New York victory, and the first win in the league's history.
Ā
Ottawa and Montreal took the ice for competition on the next day, each fielding one Big Red alum, in what proved to be thrilling action. The squads traded tallies in the second and third period locking the game at 2-2 at the end of regulation. One minute into overtime former Cornell skater and single-season leader in game-winning-goals O'Neill stole the puck from her Ottawa opponent and found her teammates cutting across the ice for the game-winning-goal.
