Sailing Earns Fifth-Place Finish At Open ACC Semifinals, Earns Bid to Finals

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell Sailing team took home a fifth-place finish at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Semifinals over the weekend, winning a tie-breaker over St. Mary's. The finish earned Cornell a second-straight bid to the Open ACC Finals.

Senior sailor Bridget Green and junior crew Sophia Mulvania in Division A represented Cornell. The pair raced to a third-place overall finish in their division, narrowly edging out Tulane, who finished two points shy of the Big Red. Green and Mulvania combined efforts for five podium finishes in 13 races, including finishing the weekend with a first-place race.

Junior Sophia Devling and sophomore Winbourne Majette shared sailor duties in the B division, while senior Amelia Neumann, junior Sophia Pearce, and sophomore Kate Moran shared the crew role. They combined for an eighth-place finish, just nine points shy of seventh-place finisher Miami. The group combined efforts for five podium finishes out of 13 races.

Cornell also sent a delegation up to William Smith for a scrimmage. The Big Red placed first, third, sixth, seventh, ninth, 10th, and 15th at the Seneca Showdown.

Cornell next takes on the Women's ACC Finals, hosted by Navy, and the David Lee Arnoff Trophy, hosted by William Smith, next weekend from Saturday, October 12, through Sunday, October 13.
