STREAKS, STORYLINES & SIDEBARS 

  • Cornell women's basketball dropped to 2-3 on the season with a 60-53 loss to Bryant on Tuesday night at Newman Arena. 
  • Tipoff against Quinnipiac is set for Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m. in Hamden, CT at the M&T Bank Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. 
  • The Big Red welcome new Rebecca Quinn Morgan ‘60 Head Coach of Women’s Basketball this season in Emily Garner. Garner came from Trinity College where she served as the head coach since 2016. Garner picked up her first win at the helm of the program against Army on Monday, Nov. 4 and first home win against Binghamton on Thursday, Nov. 14. 
  • Cornell was selected seventh in the Ivy League preseason media poll. The Big Red is currently seventh in the standings as of Wednesday, Nov. 20. 
  • Cornell finished 7-19 in the 2023-24 season, ending at seventh in the Ancient Eight. 
  • Emily Pape leads the team in average points per game with 17.6, average rebounds per game with 9.8, blocks with two and steals with seven. Clarke Jackson leads in assists with 3.2/game.

CORNELL, IVY LEAGUE BASKETBALL FEATURED ON ESPN+ 
ESPN+ is ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer offering.
• Similar to Netflix and Hulu, fans are able to buy a subscription to ESPN+, which will be completely separate from their cable/satellite bill.

FIRST QUARTER:

  • Bryant opened up scoring with a 17-point run. 
  • Summer Parker-Hall was fouled with 1:34 left in the quarter, made both and followed up with a layup to make the score 17-4 in favor of Bryant.

 

SECOND QUARTER:

  • Bryant opened the second quarter on a five-point run.
  • Rachel Kaus made one free throw and hit a layup to make the score 22-7.
  • Silvia Gonzalez hit a three-pointer for Bryant to extend its lead to 25-7.
  • Vivienne Knee made a layup for Cornell to make it 27-9.
  • Bryant answered with a Maranda Nyborg jumper.
  • Cornell went on a nine-point run to end the half. Bryant was still up 29-18.

  • Bryant answered with a Nyborg layup.
  • Parker Hall hit another jumper to make the score 31-22.
  • Bryant answered with a four-point run.
  • Clarke Jackson hit a mid-range jumper.
  • Boba answered with a jumper.
  • Emily Pape hit a three-pointer for Cornell.
  • Breezie Williams answered with a three-pointer for Bryant to make the score 40-27.
  • Pape was fouled and made both free throw shots for the Big Red.
  • Nyborg answered with four for Cornell to make the score 44-29.
  • Cornell went on a seven-point run to cut Bryant's lead to eight.
  • Nyborg hit a layup for Bryant.
  • Cornell answered with a six-point run including a buzzer beating layup from Pape to end the quarter with Bryant up 46-42.

 

FOURTH QUARTER:

  • Cornell opened up the fourth quarter scoring with a six-point run to take the lead for the first time in the game 48-46 with 7:17 left in the game and forcing Bryant to call a timeout.
  • Bryant came out of the timeout and went on a five-point run to give the Bulldogs the lead once again. 
  • Azareya Kilgoe hit a jumper for Cornell to cut Bryant's lead to one with four-minutes left of play.
  • Engels was fouled and went 1-1 on her free throws to tie the game at 51.
  • Bryant went on an eight-point run to put them up 59-51. 
  • Parker-Hall hit a layup to make the score 59-53.
  • With Bryant in the bonus, Mancini shot and made two free throws to make the score 60-53.
