Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Three Players Tally Double-Digit Points in Cornell’s 54-47 loss at the University at Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Cornell women's basketball team played a hard-fought back-and-forth 40 minutes in its 54-47 loss at the University at Albany on Saturday night.

The game was consistently a one-score difference until the fourth quarter when Meghan Huerter hit two three's back-to-back for UAlbany, putting Cornell at a six-point deficit late in the fourth. While the Big Red was able to score two baskets in a row to cut their deficit to one, it wouldn't be enough as the team wasn't able to rebound a missed free-throw leading to Kayla Cooper heading to the free-throw line two more times in an attempt for Cornell to make something happen in the final thirty seconds.

Three different Cornell players were able to record double-digit points in Saturday's game. Emily Pape led the team with 18, Rachel Kaus recorded 13 and Clarke Jackson had 12. Pape led the team in rebounds with nine, Azareya Kilgoe led in assists with five and Kilgoe and Kaus led the team in steals with two apiece.

The Big Red shot 38.6 percent from the field to UAlbany's 40.4 percent. From three, Cornell out-shot UAlbany 38.5 percent to 26.1 percent. The Big Red shot 61.5 percent from the free-throw line to UAlbany's 83.3 percent.
