#11 Big Red Completes Weekend Sweep With 2-1 Victory Over #14 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the no. 14-ranked Brown Bears 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium. The Big Red improved to 4-3-1, while the Bears dropped to 6-2-0.

Lily Delianedis and Katie Chan registered the Big Red goals in the game. Rose Dwyer, Beatrice Perron-Roy, and Alyssa Regalado were credited with helpers. Cornell goaltender Annelies Bergmann finished the contest with 18 saves.

The defensive intensity was high between the teams, with both teams managing to keep each other shot-less through the first five minutes of the game. The first shot of the game came at the 5:45 mark, when Delianedis snuck one past Brown net-minder Anya Zupkofska to put Cornell ahead 1-0.

Cornell added to its amount 29 seconds into the second stanza, when Chan found the back of the net to give Cornell a 2-0 advantage.

Brown cut the lead in half with under two-minutes to go in the third period during a six on four empty-net power-play. The Bears would search for an equalizer to no avail, giving Cornell its first weekend-sweep of the season. Bergmann improved to 4-3-1 in net this year.
