ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Despite a comeback to take the lead in the third quarter, the Big Red lost to St. Bonaventure 56-54 on Thursday night and fell to 3-7 on the season.
Thursday's game acted as a back and forth battle from start to finish for Cornell and St. Bonaventure. The first quarter was a low scoring one where Cornell was down by four. In the second, the back and forth battle continued, but Cornell was able to close the scoring gap to just one point at the half. In the third quarter, the Big Red came out with energy and were able to string together a couple of multi-basket runs to take the lead 42-38. In the fourth quarter, St. Bonaventure had an eight-point run to put themselves in the lead and despite a back and forth hard fought battle from Cornell, the Bonnies were able to secure a victory over the Big Red 56-54.
Rachel Kaus led Cornell in points with 17 and rebounds with eight. Emily Pape led in assists with five and steals with five and Summer Parker-Hall led in blocks with four. The Big Red shot 39 percent from the field to St. Bonaventure's 37.5 percent. From three, Cornell shot 6.7 percent to the Bonnies 34.8 percent. From the free throw line, Cornell shot 63.6 percent to St. Bonaventure's 85.7 percent.
