PRINCETON, N.J. -- Three members of the Cornell swimming and diving program competed on day one of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on Monday from DeNunzio Pool in the men's 3-meter dive and women's 1-meter dive.

Soodong Kim and Matthew Warren represented the Big Red on the men's side. Making his second appearance at zones, Kim led the way of the two, finishing with a final score of 271.85 to earn 32nd in the preliminary round. The junior's best dive came on his fifth attempt, scoring a 57.00 on a forward 2.5 somersault with a one-twist pike. His 271.85 also bested his 238.60 performance at the Ivy Championships and his first time appearing in the 3-meter dive at zones, as he only competed in the 1-meter event in last year's Zone B Championships in Morgantown, West Virginia. Warren rounded out the squad in his zones debut by finishing 40th in prelims with a score of 261.15. His best dive came on his first attempt, scoring a 57.00 on an inward 2.5 somersault pike. The score also bested the seniors' last appearance in the 3-meter at the 2024 Ivy League Championships (257.15).

Shifting over to the women's side, Brooke Andrews was the lone diver to compete for the Big Red in the 1-meter dive. Competing in her first appearance at zones, the freshman finished 54th out of the 79 divers that hit the board in the preliminary round with a final score of 216.95. Andrews' best score came on her third attempt, scoring a 40.25 on a back 1.5 somersault pike.

Day two of the 2024 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships begins Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the preliminary dives of the women's 3-meter dive followed by the qualifying rounds of the men's 1-meter dive set to start at 12:30. Both the qualifying and final portions of each event will be available on ESPN+. All four Big Red divers will be suiting up, including the debut of freshman Morgan Ogata on the women's side.
