ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's golf team will close out its 2024 regular season with a trip to Ulster County for the 2024 Roar-EE Invitational hosted by Columbia University. Thirteen teams will compete in the 36-hole stroke play event, which kicks off Saturday, April 13 at 8 a.m. from the Wiltwyck Golf Club. The Par-72 course will play at 6,684 yards. Bryant, Dartmouth, Hofstra, Holy Cross, Le Moyne, Manhattan, St. Peter's, St. Thomas Aquinas (DII), Penn, Wagner, and Yale will join the Big Red and Lions in the one-day event.

LAST TIME OUT: BIG RED CARDS BEST ROUND ON SUNDAY AT PRINCETON INVITATIONAL
After two tough opening rounds, Cornell put together its best 18-hole score of 305 on Sunday to card a 937 overall to finish 14th at last weekend's Princeton Invite from the Springdale Golf Club. The Big Red also tied its finish from last season's invite.

Viktor Stollinger led the charge for the Big Red with an even-par 71 that was nine strokes less than his consecutive 80s over the first two rounds. The freshman rose a tournament-best 20 spots on the final day of the invite and had a team-high four birdies over the final 18 to earn a tie for 52nd overall. Classmate Tyler Debusschere (76-77-78-231) also earned a share of 52nd after securing par or better on 11 of the 18 holes played on the final day. Char Russekoff fed off Stollinger's momentum by carding his best round on Sunday with two birdies and 10 holes at par to put together a five-over-76 to finish 67th. Tismark Boham (83-74-89-246) and Jackson Debusschere (86-82-79-247) closed the scoring. Weston Warden rebounded after not playing in the first round with a 76 and 77 on Saturday and Sunday. 

ROAR-EE FLASHBACK: CORNELL EARNS TIE FOR SECOND IN RAIN-SHORTENED EVENT
Cornell will hope some of the magic has stayed on the links in Kingston after taking home a runner-up finish in last season's invitational that was cut short due to rain. The Big Red was nearly two-thirds through the second and final round before the skies opened up and forced the competing teams off the course. Holy Cross took home the team championships with a 281, just a stroke ahead of Cornell and Penn. 

Josh Lundmark led the way for Cornell, who was six-under-par for the day, shooting 3-under 69 to earn sixth overall. Benjamin Choe followed Lundmark with a 2-under-70 to earn a five-way tie for 12th, and Samuel King was the final Big Red golfer under par with a one-under-70 to finish tied for 17th with Columbia's Wyatt McGovern and Dartmouth's Eli Kimche. Jackson Debusschere rounded out the Top-20 performances with his 20th overall placing with an even-par-72 over 18 holes. Noah Schwartz was the fifth golfer in the lineup, earning 36th with a 2-over-74 alongside Weston Warden, who played as the lone individual for the Big Red. 

The Big Red's tie with the Quakers was also the highest the team has finished in an invite since taking home the 2019 Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate.

Cornell will head off to the Garden State for the 2024 Ivy League Championship from the Watchung Valley Golf Club. The three-day 54-hole event kicks off Friday, April 19. Princeton is the defending champion, finishing 18 strokes ahead of runner-up Columbia. Riccardo Fantinelli is also the defending medalist for the Tigers at five-under, four shots ahead of Harvard's Brian Ma.
