Cornell Sits Seventh After Opening Round of Ivy League Championship

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Cornell men's golf posted a first-round team score of 316 (+28) Friday at the Ivy League Championship, sitting seventh in the seven-team field after 18 holes at Baltusrol Golf Club's Lower Course.
 
Senior Weston Warden and sophomore TJ Betlow paced the Big Red, each carding a 76 (+4) to sit tied for 14th individually. Betlow finished the afternoon with four birdies, including three on the front nine, while Warden recorded three birdies in the opening round.
 
Freshman Adithya Venkataraghavan and junior Tyler Debusschere each shot 82 (+10) to tie for 32nd. Debusschere was 1-under through seven holes but carded bogeys on eight of his final 11 to finish the day at +10.
 
Shep Davis rounded out Cornell's scoring with an 85 (+13) to sit 35th.
 
Harvard leads the team standings at 286 (-2), followed by Princeton at 294 (+6) and Penn at 299 (+11). Barry Zhang of Harvard tops the individual leaderboard after firing a first-round 69 (-3).
 
Round two is scheduled for Saturday at Baltusrol Golf Club.
