HANOVER, N.H. -- Cornell women's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to Dartmouth in a road battle on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green's win marks the third in the last five meetings. The loss drops Cornell to 7-13 (0-5 Ivy), while Dartmouth improves to 7-10 (1-3 Ivy).
The Big Red, after dropping the no. 1 match, responded with two wins to take the point.
Lauren Stein and
Emma Baker fell to Lexi Dewire and Elizabeth Fahrmeier, 6-1, but
Victoria Zhao and
Jenny Wong had the answer with a 6-4 victory in the no. 2 doubles match.
Michelle Ryndin and
Gia Graziano wrapped up the point for the Big Red with a 6-4 win over Brooke Hess and Caroline Lemcke.
It was all Big Green in singles competition. though. Dartmouth posted four straight wins to seal the victory. In the no.1 single match, Peyton Capuano bested
Lauren Stein, 6-1, 6-1.
Michelle Ryndin dropped to Michela Moore in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 battle. Elizabeth Fahmeier beat
Jenny Wong, 6-4, 6-2, and Caroline Lemcke sealed to Dartmouth victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Gia Graciano.
Emma Baker and
Victoria Zhao's singles matches ended unfinished, though both went to three sets.
Cornell is back to the courts next weekend in the final double-Ivy weekend of the year, including Senior Day, which will be held against Brown on Saturday, April 20. Matches will begin at 1 p.m. at the Reis Tennis Center.
