WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The Cornell gymnastics team closed its 2024 season with four top-five finishes in Sunday's individual finals of the 2024 USAG Collegiate Nationals from the Hollinger Field House. Cornell's four gymnasts to make the individual finals tied the team's mark from the 2022 season.
The floor exercise had the most representation, with Sydney Beers, Josie Moylan, and Alexandra Quiana putting on the carnelian and white. In her final appearance for the Big Red, Quiana earned a tie for fourth with a 9.838. Beers shared the fourth position with her teammate after tying her 9.838 from last year's USAG Collegiate Nationals in Virginia. Moylan, who was making her first appearance in the individual finals, grabbed a share of sixth with Lindenwood's Jaly Jones (9.825). All three gymnasts earned first team All-American honors for making Sunday's finals.
Shifting over to beam, Beers and Mikayla Burton put on a show. Burton was the best performer of the two with a 9.800 in her first finals appearance in a Big Red uniform. That put her in a three-way tie for bronze with Brown's Lauren Kramer and Talledega's Alondra Maldonado. Beers, who was also making her first appearance in the individual beam finals, secured a tie for sixth with Lindenwood's Jaly Jones (9.788). Each also earned first team All-American honors. The junior captain also competed on vault for the Big Red, besting her 9.725 from last season's finals with a 9.825 to grab a share of second alongside Texas Women's Kaitlyn Hoiland and first team All-American honors.
Additionally, Beers earned a second team All-American nod from her 38.350 score in the all-around from Friday's semifinals. The junior has been named an all-around All-American for the third consecutive season. Senior Caitlyn Walsh was also named a second team All-American after her 9.825 on floor on Friday.
