ITHACA, N.Y. — Princeton's heavyweight crew recorded a new Cayuga Inlet record with its 5:26.6 time to claim its first Carnegie Cup victory since 2013 on Saturday morning.

The Tigers, which won the 2022 title after Yale's first-place finish was nullified, had never placed first in the event over the last 11 years as the Bulldogs garnered first-place finishes in each of the last nine races, as there was no races held in either 2020 or 2021. 

Princeton commandingly took the Carnegie Cup race, which was the second race off on the morning, with its five-second victory over Yale. Cornell finished 14.4 seconds after the Tigers, crossing the finish line at the 5:41.0 mark.

Yale, which registered victories in the 3V8, 4V8, and 5V8, posted its first victory of the day in the 3V8, clocking a 5:40.6 time, edging Princeton's crew by 2.1 seconds (5:42.7). Cornell concluded the 2000-meter course with a time of 5:57.9.

The other victory for Princeton on the day came in the 2V8 when it logged another five-second victory over Yale.

Cornell's lone second-place finish came in the 5V8 when it clocked a 6:12.7 time, 10 seconds ahead of Princeton. Yale won the race with a 5:58.8 finish.
