ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell Sailing sent three delegations to the water this weekend, and each found their own successes in the second week of fall action. Freshman Gilda Dondona secured the MAISA Women's Singlehanded Conference Championship with a first-place race at the Faye Bennet Regatta, and the Big Red claimed a first- and third-place finish at this weekend's home regattas.

The Faye Bennet Singlehanded Regatta featured three Big Red sailors competing against 14 others in a 14-race battle for the conference title. Dondona, sophomore  Pilar Cundey, and freshman Ava Gustafson represented Cornell. Dondona was unstoppable on day one, claiming the top spot in race one and never looking back, winning eight races straight, and totaling nine first-place finishes across the whole weekend. She finished with just 42 points overall. Cundey grabbed a third-place finish and Ava Gustafson finished seventh to round out the Big Red's performance.

At home, Cornell hosted a modified Susan Rogers '75 and Jack Boehringer '52 Memorial Regattas after Saturday's action had to be canceled due to no wind. On Sunday, the three divisions competed in just eight races compared to the typical 14. Despite the delay, Cornell's A got right back in the grove at the Susan Rogers. The pair of senior Bridget Green and Junior Sophia Mulvania won four races and never placed lower than third, tallying just 13 points. junior Maya Conway, freshman Sara Ortiz Vey, and freshman Kathi Keller combined in the C division for a fifth-place finish overall. Sophomore Winnborne Majette and freshman Hope Campbell rounded out the Big Red performance at the Susan Rogers with a seventh-place finish.

At the Jack Boehringer, Sophia Devling and Sophia Pearce combined efforts in the B division for a third-place finish overall, marking 38 points. The Big Red's A and C boats, commanded by Amelia NeumannKate Moran and Marcus Greco & Wynne Williams, respectively, finished eighth and ninth.

Cornell is back to the waters next weekend for two more regattas, hosting the MAISA Top-9 Combined Women's Regatta nd the Top-9 Combined Open Regatta. Action for both is set for Saturday, September 21 through Sunday, September 22.
