ITHACA N.Y. – The Cornell volleyball team (6-2) adds to their four-game winning streak with victory over Le Moyne Friday night at Newman Arena.
The Big Red bested Le Moyne in kills 46 to 32 on a .304 percentage as a team.
Freshman Mackenzie Parsons led the attack with 12 kills on .800 hitting percentage and a career-best six blocks.
Eliza Konvicka and Ava Bogan rounded out the net presence adding eight and seven kills respectfully.
Kohanihokuao Misipeka assisted the Big Red all the way around the table recording 14 assists, nine digs, four kills and her first block of the season.
First Set (25-9 Cornell)
The Big Red jumped out of the gate fast, opening the first set 13-3 with four aces in the opening run.
A kill by Haley Clark earned her the serve that resulted in an ace to put Cornell up 15-4.
Cornell increased their lead to 18-7 after a rally stopper from Misipeka and Camryn Carlo.
The first set was closed out on a 9-2 run from the Big Red with a Parsons kill to top of the set 25-9.
Second Set (25-11 Cornell)
Bogan started the second set off right for the Big Red with two blocks and two kills, 4-2 Cornell.
Cornell increases its lead to 18-6 with a 7-0 run including four aces from Doga Ozalp.
Block assist from Parsons and Meghan Gaffigan bring it to set point.
Le Moyne tacks on two more points before a service error ends the set 25-11 Cornell.
Third Set (22-25 Le Moyne)
The Dolphins took advantage of errors from the Big Red to start the third set up 2-4.
Cornell responded with a 4-0 run started by a kill from Avarie Adams to take the lead back 6-4.
Le Moyne then strung together a 9-2 run to reclaim the lead 13-8.
Cornell clawed back with blocks from Bogan and Adams and put together a 4-1 run, cutting the edge to 14-12.
The two teams traded points back and forth for the rest of the match and the Big Red could not catch back up, Le Moyne took the third set 22-25.
Fourth Set (25-23 Cornell)
The final set was tied up 13 times with eight lead changes.
With Cornell leading 7-4 early, the Dolphin responded with a 4-0 run to pull ahead 8-7.
Points are exchanged evenly until Cornell ties it up 14-14 to start a 3-0 run that included a Clark kill and an ace from Gaffigan to take the lead 16-14.
Cornell started to turn the tides when a Gaffigan kill ties it up 20-20. Alongside errors from Le Moyne, kills from Carlo and Parsons bring it to match point before they combine for the final block of the night to seal the match for Cornell 25-23.
