HANOVER, N.H. - The no. 6-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team played the Dartmouth Big Green to a 2-2 tie on Friday night at Thompson Arena. The Big Red shifted to 14-4-4, while the Big Green moved to 4-14-3.
Lindzi Avar (power-play) and
Avi Adam (empty-net) registered the Big Red goals in the contest. Adam,
Alyssa Regalado (two), and
Karel Prefontaine were credited with assists.
The Big Red out-shot the Big Green 9-2 in the first period, but could not manage to score.Â
The Big Red opened up the scoring halfway through the second period during the first power-play of the game for either team. Avar was set up by Adam and Regalado for an opportunity in front of the net that she made count on Cornell's first shot of the second period. Dartmouth answered with two minutes remaining in the second to tie the game at 1-1.
With under two minutes to play, the Big Green took the lead on a breakaway. The Big Red pulled Bergmann out of the net in search of an equalizer. After a handful of attempts on the Dartmouth net-minder, Adam found the back of the net with seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.
A couple of grade-A attempts were produced by Cornell in the opening moments of overtime, along with a pair on one-on-one breakaways by Van Gelder, to no avail. With under two minutes left in the overtime period,
Rory Guilday was sent to the box as Dartmouth earned a 4 on 3 power-play opportunity. Cornell managed to keep the Big Green away from Bergmann throughout the remainder of the game, resulting in a tie game at Thompson Arena.
Prefontaine and
Piper Grober helped the Big Red go 2-for-2 in the shootout. Along with her 16 saves in regulation, Bergmann held Dartmouth to 1-for-3 on their attempts to earn Cornell the shootout victory.

The Cornell women's ice hockey team will return to the ice tomorrow afternoon against the Harvard Crimson. The Big Red and the Crimson are scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop at Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
