Women's Tennis Wraps Up Play at ITA Ivy League Conference Masters Qualifier

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Cornell women's tennis team concluded play at the 2025 ITA Ivy League Conference Masters Qualifier on Saturday at Harvard's Beren Tennis Center, wrapping up a competitive weekend of fall action against conference foes.

In doubles, the Big Red tandem of Andrea Martinez De Los Rios and Michelle Ryndin bowed out in the quarterfinals after an 8-1 setback to Columbia's Malak El Allami and Sophia Wang. The pair had advanced with a strong first-round victory on Friday to reach the final eight.

In the singles consolation draw, Martinez De Los Rios and Emma Baker both fell in the consolation first round. Martinez fell to Yale's Julia Werdiger, 6-0, 6-1, while Baker dropped a hard-fought three-set match to Penn's Varsha Vedula, 7-5, 1-6, 10-6.


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Cornell women's tennis team opened play at the 2025 ITA Ivy League Conference Masters Qualifier on Friday afternoon at Harvard's Beren Tennis Center, with several competitive performances highlighted by a doubles victory from Michelle Ryndin and Andrea Martinez De Los Rios.

The Big Red duo advanced to the doubles quarterfinals after earning an 8-6 win over Dartmouth's Josephine Lombardi and Sam Grosjean, while the team of Emma Baker and Dylan Gelber fell to Harvard's Stephanie Yakoff and Kavya Karra, 8-1. Ryndin and Martinez De Los Rios will meet top-seeded Malak El Allami and Sophia Wang of Columbia for a spot in the semifinals.

In singles action, Gelber and Ryndin each opened with Round of 32 victories. Gelber topped Brown's Anne Moody, 6-3, 6-2, while Ryndin edged Yale's Rachel Lee, 6-4, 6-4, before both bowed out in competitive Round of 16 matches. Gelber dropped a 7-6, 6-1 decision to Yale's Leena Friedman, while Ryndin fell 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 to Dartmouth's Alexandra Orlins.

Martinez remains alive in the consolation singles back draw after a narrow 6-4, 7-6 loss to Penn's Liza Tkachenko in the opening round, while Baker was defeated by Yale's Shyla Aggarwal, 6-0, 6-3 to round out action.

Play continues Saturday at 10 a.m. in Cambridge with quarterfinal doubles action and the continuation of the singles consolation draw.
