Golf Tied for Eighth After Round One of Matthews Auto Collegiate

APALACHIN, N.Y. — Cornell's men's golf team are in a tie for eighth place after the opening round of the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. 
 
The Big Red carded a team score of 296 (+8), matching Dartmouth for eighth in the 13-team field. Iona leads the tournament at 275 (-13), followed by Binghamton at 277 (-11) and Lehigh at 279 (-9). 
 
Tyler Debusschere paced Cornell with a 70 (-2), and is tied for 13th. Adithya Venkataraghavan posted a 74 (+2) to tie for 34th place. 
 
Shep Davis and Javier Benerofe each shot 76 (+4) to tie for 50th, while Weston Warden rounded out Cornell's scoring with a 76 (+4) to tie for 50th as well. 
 
TJ Betlow and Jack Burda both competed as individuals and recorded scores of 74 (+2) and 76 (+4), respectively.  
 
Sahir Balyan of Iona leads the individual standings with a 7-under 65. 
 
The tournament continues Monday on the 7,104-yard, par-72 course.
