ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team continued its busy fall slate with a strong showing at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1A and a milestone debut at the Oyster Bowl, turning in solid performances at two separate regattas over the weekend.
At the Open ACC Round 1A, the Big Red secured a fifth-place finish to punch its ticket to the ACC Open Finals later this month*. The Big Red posted a combined 102 points over 14 races across A and B divisions, finishing ahead of Ivy rival Yale and Hobart & William Smith in a highly competitive 18-team race.

Grace Penque teamed up for a consistent showing, including a win and two top-three finishes to place fifth.
In its first-ever appearance at the Oyster Bowl, the Cornell sailing team fielded three boats and finished ninth, 11th and 12th overall in a competitive 15-team fleet on the waters of the St. Mary's River.

Kate Constan, posted several top 10 finishes en route to a ninth-place effort with 70 total points. Big Red 3, skippered by freshman
Adrianna D'Agati and crew Emil Damji, placed 11th overall, just ahead of Big Red 2, led by Wynne Williams and Marcus Greco.
The Big Red will compete in three regattas this coming weekend highlighted by the Women's ACC Finals at MIT. Members of the squad will also sail at the Nevins Trophy at the Merchant Marine Academy and the David Lee Arnoff Trophy at Hobart and William Smith on Oct. 11-12.
