#4 Big Red Falls To #14 Colgate at Class of 1965 Arena

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The no. 4-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team fell to the no. 14-ranked Colgate Raiders 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Class of 1965 Arena. The Big Red dropped to 7-1-0, while the Raiders improved to 6-6-1 on the year.

The Raiders proved to be high-octane, registering 43 shots-on-goal, the most Cornel has allowed all season. Lindzi Avar and Karel Prefontaine produced the most shots for Cornell, having four each. Avar also dominated the face off dot, going 17-29 to earn Cornell more possession time.

Annelies Bergmann made 40 saves in the contest while dropping her first game between the pipes this season. Brooke Davis was tasked with making half the amount of Bergmann's stops in her shutout victory.

Alexis Petford opened the scoring for Colgate 24 seconds into the second period. That tally was followed by another less than one minute later from Emma Beauchamp to extend the Raider's lead to 2-0. Alexis Rueben made an empty-net marker count to seal a 3-0 victory for the Raiders.

Cornell remains unscathed on the penalty-kill this season after stopping two Colgate power-plays in the contest. Big Red opponents are now 0-19 on the woman-advantage. On the flip side, Cornell had four chances on the power-play, and failed to make any of those count.
