ITHACA, N.Y. - The no. 4-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated no.14 Colgate 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Lynah Rink. The Big Red improved to 8-1-0 on the season, while the Raiders dropped to 6-7-1 on the year.

Karel Prefontaine (gwg) registered Big Red goals in the contest. Prefontaine,
Alyssa Regalado (two),
Grace Dwyer,
Mckenna Van Gelder, and
Lindzi Avar were credite with assists in the game.
Annelies Bergmann made 28 saves on the night and improved her record to 8-1-0 in net. Brooke Davis made 27 saves for Colgate, and allowed a goal on the lone Big Red shot-on-goal in overtime.
Special teams continues to be the story for Cornell through it's wins and lone loss. Three-straight power-play goals and a short-handed goal proved to be the difference in the contest against the Raiders. Although allowing it's first power-play tally of the season, Cornell stopped four of the five Colgate woman-advantages in the game, including three in the first period.
After a scorless first period, the second period did not lack action on the ice and on the scoreboard. Alexia Aubin opened the scoring five minutes into the second, following a missed Big Red penalty-shot followed by a 5-on-3 Raiders penalty-kill.
On an ensuing Raider power-play, Adam stole the puck and raced down the ice for Cornell's first short-handed goal of the season. Avery Pickering spoiled the fun 30 seconds later, netting the first power-play goal against Cornell this season.
Emma Pais found the back of the net to extend Colgate's lead to 3-1 halfway through the second frame. Adam scored her second of the period seconds into the power-play to cut the deficit to 3-2.
With five minutes remaining in the third, Grober scored the second Cornell power-play goal of the contest to tie the game up at 3-3 and send the game to overtime. Two minutes into the extra-period, Prefontaine scored to give Cornell a 4-3 victory over the Raiders on home-ice.
