ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior goalkeeper
Jane McNally has been named the Ivy League Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding effort in her final collegiate contest, a 3-2 double overtime victory over Penn that ended in a shootout. It is McNally's first conference weekly honor.
McNally made eight saves and stopped the final three stroke attempts in the shootout in the season-ending triumph over Penn. Her eight stops were a career high, with five coming in the fourth quarter or the overtimes. McNally's final 1-on-1 stop on Penn's Jazmin Borensztein in the fifth round clinched the win and a tie for third place in the final Ivy League standings.
The senior closed the campaign, the first as a starter, with an 11-4 record and a 1.61 goals against average on a .694 save percentage. The 11 wins tie her for second in a single season in school history, while her goals against average also ranks in the top 20 all-time for the Big Red. Her three solo shutouts rank tied for 14th in a season at Cornell.
